There's A New Lap Time King At The Nürburgring
The Nürburgring in Germany is one of the most famous race tracks in the world. The main car brands that have been fighting for the quickest lap are Lamborghini and Porsche. At 6 minutes and 47 seconds, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS took the title.
Lamborghini, of course, wasn't very impressed and evolved the 2015 Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce to get the title back.
Lamborghini took down the previous leader last year (Porsche 918) with their Huracán Performante. Only a few months later, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS took it back for Porsche by nearly 5 seconds.

The Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce Jota in high performance mode, promotes 500kg of downforce, which is a lot, even though the McLaren Senna has 800kg. The Senna was built to have high downforce. The SV is an upgraded Aventador, and the Jota is an upgraded SV. 20 horsepower is gained for the Lamborghini Jota.

The Lamborghini managed to pull off a 6:44.97, beating the Porsche 911 GT2 RS by 2 seconds. The Lamborghini SVJ is only the 6th production-spec car to go under 7 minutes. All 6 have been either Porsche or Lamborghini. You can watch the full lap here.

Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali commented:
“The SVJ is a super sports car at the zenith of performance, while also ensuring unrivalled driving pleasure. It is the convergence of Lamborghini technologies to produce a super sports car that transcends current performance benchmarks, and its tenure as the Nürburgring lap record holder endorses Lamborghini’s competency in applying superlative design engineering and ground-breaking technologies.”
