More Forza Horizon 4 Information Released 7/10/18
Playground Games announced a series of weekly livestreams that will follow the 4 seasons in Forza Horizon 4. This week featured an hour long stream showcasing a summer in Britain. Without further ado, here is a summary of the stream.
The stream began in the village of Broadway in the Cotswalds. This is the home to one of the twelve houses in Forza Horizon 4. This house, known as The Gables, is given to players for free about an hour into the campaign.
Other houses were showcased during the stream, including the one given the name Sunflower Meadows, located in Ambleside in the Lake District. A few others were given a few details. The Edinburgh Castle is available to be purchased. As the most expensive house, anyone who eventually buys it will receive a Crown and Royal Wave emote for their customizable character. The Edinburgh Castle is not the only house with perks, each property comes with special, unique perks, including one that allows you to Fast Travel anywhere. Another house we were given information on is the one located in the British forest, but no other details were given.
Since we are talking about locations of houses on the map, we still do not know what the map is like at this time, unfortunately. We do know the map will be revealed during next week's livestream.
Another confirmed part of the map is an airstrip. Unlike previous games, this is an abandoned airfield, which contains an obstacle course. Obviously, drag races are still possible, along with the drag strip at the Horizon Festival. Another detail about drag racing we were given was drag racing on the frozen lake in the winter. More parking lots and areas for car meets will be added into Forza Horizon 4. Highways will also be returning in Forza Horizon 4.
The verticality of the British landscape was heavily emphasized throughout the stream. Examples of this include the Welsh Valleys and Scottish Highlands. Just outside of Ambleside, there is a switchback road, or a road with a lot of hairpins. This road is most likely the Kirkstone Pass, a very famous, yet dangerous British road.
The environment is an important part of a game. In Forza Horizon 4, it will be raining in the summer. Rivers and streams will have less water in the summer than the amount in winter, so the seasons will change the way you race. The animals will also experience changes. Sheep will have more wool in the winter, and foliage will change throughout the year, as a few examples.
Customization has always been a key component to Forza Games. The introduction of being able to choose between different characters in Forza Horizon 3 has been expanded. Players can choose from over 500 clothing items, and yes, you can make a male character wear a skirt if you'd like. Clothing items will have rarities, with green being the most common, moving up to blue, followed by purple, and gold for the rarest outfits. Just like Fortnite, emotes will be added, including the Dab, Floss, Hotline Bling, Macarena, Thumbs Up, and more. There will be over 50 emotes at launch.
Moving on to something that has been in all Forza games, car customization. 30 new widebody kits will be added to cars in Forza Horizon 4. A couple kits include a Liberty Walk McLaren 650s and a Rocket Bunny Nissan Skyline R32. The shopping cart in the upgrade shop is making a return, as well as the addition of wheel offset (making them stick out from the arches). The upgrades tab has a new feature known as Car Masteries. Everything about this is unknown because it was not even mentioned. The car is a widebody Ferrari 458 as the picture.
A handful of other features were seen throughout the hour of gameplay. The rebranding of Followers to Influence is one of them. The way it works is still the same, but now it is split into groups depending on the type of race. Each time you level up the Global Influence, you will receive a wheelspin.
Since they've been mentioned, there are 2 different types of wheelspins. These two types are super and regular. The Super Wheelspins will have 3 spin wheels.
Bonus boards will be scattered across the map as usual.
The next livestream is Tuesday, July 17th at 2PM EST/11AM PST/7PM UK. What feature are you most excited about? Tell us below!
